Schild Estate Wines are created with an authenticity and passion that comes from generations of a family who have made their home in the Southern Barossa.

This wine is dedicated to "Alma Schild”, who raised a family of eight children in primitive conditions whilst supporting her husband Ben in establishing the Schild family vineyards and is a testament to her understanding, perseverance and sheer hard work. Sourced from the family’s finest parcel of Chardonnay off the Moorooroo Vineyard near Rowland Flat, the goal for our winemakers here has been to produce a wine which is varietally strong, retains its element of refreshingness, but possesses interest and complexity for the drinker. Varying degrees of oak barrel and stainless steel use, lees stirring and malolactic fermentation are all used in an effort to make a wine "with no arms and legs sticking out” and in which "Alma Schild” would be proud.

To produce top quality wines from domaine-grown fruit, which are complex but elegant and understated, which are the perfect accompaniments for food, and which represent outstanding value and quality. Ronald Brown, a practitioner of biodynamic culture in France since 1993, worked for 8 years with the late Francois Beuchet. Ronald has imported both the technology and practical philosophy to Australia from Europe, making Maverick one of the leading edge biodynamic vineyards and wineries in the New World.

Shiraz and Barossa still epitomise the best of Australian wine for many wine lovers around the world. This Shiraz comes from the very top terroirs in the Twin Shiraz vineyards - at Ahrens' Creek and Barossa Ridge in Vine Vale in the warm dry Barossa Valley. This remarkable "twinning" results in a voluptuous yet elegant wines, expressed also in the label painted by Sidney-based artist Charles Billich.

The Berton Vineyard Reserve range brings together wines from regions that due to their distinct climate and soil have excelled at producing particular varieties. Predominantly made from the Barossa Valley this vintage, resulting in a rich, textured and drinkable Shiraz.

A blend of the Eden Valley vineyard and two vineyards in the Barossa Valley, this Reserve Shiraz was fermented in separate parcels, then pressed and left in stainless steel for malolactic fermentation, after which it was racked into barrel for approximately 12 months maturation in new and old French and American oak. The best barrels were then blended and filtered for bottling and a dash of High Eden Shiraz was added for extra complexity and spice.

Schild Estate Wines are created with an authenticity and passion that comes from generations of a family who have made their home in the Southern Barossa.
The Three Springs vineyard is where the original Schild family estate is located.
Situated on historic Narrow Road at Rowland Flat, this vineyard sits at 380 metres above sea level. Vineyards at this altitude are traditionally much lower yielding than vineyards planted on the Barossa Valley floor meaning the grapes from these vines are regarded as higher quality fruit, as this merlot clearly shows.
