Deep and dark ruby red.

NOSE
Vibrant, fruit-forward wine with bright red berry aromas and subtle toasty oak.

PALATE
Ripe plum and red fruit flavors dominate the palate, enhanced by a touch of vanilla spice. This full-bodied Shiraz has integrated and soft tannins, offering a smooth mouth-feeling and a lengthy finish with lingering oak influence.

AGEING
Ageing took place in stainless-steel tanks and seasoned barrels, resulting in a very balanced integration of oak flavors.

PAIRING
This wine complements a range of dishes, from grilled lam, beef tenderloin to roasted vegetables, tomato-based pasta, and aged cheddar or Gouda cheese.

True to its name, Gnarly Head Authentic Black opens with brooding aromas of black cherry, black licorice and vanilla providing a powerful entrée to this big, robust Petite Sirah-based blend.

Concentrated flavors of boysenberry and dark chocolate are framed by pleasant hints of baking spice on the finish.

AGEING
To accentuate the concentrated fruit flavors and add an extra layer of complexity, the wine is racked on a combination of French and American oak to age for 12 months.

PAIRING
Styled to stand up to the heartiest of dishes, boldly pair this full-bodied wine with venison chili, meat lovers pizza or grilled rib eye steak.

Gnarly Head wines began with a vision and a vine. In 2004, on a mission to make a serious Zinfandel, winemakers journeyed to Lodi in central California in search of the famed old vine Zinfandel vineyards. Grown in the head-trained, spur-pruned method for over a century, these vigorous gnarled vines produced more ripened red fruit than they had ever seen. They took it as a challenge to create the biggest, boldest Zinfandel they had ever made. The result was authentic, structured wines with a hint of something unexpected. Something Gnarly.
