Family owned since 1810, the Château Cap Léon Veyrin originates from the meeting of Château Cap Léon and the Veyrin estate. Cape comes from the word "head". In fact, the vineyards of Cap Léon are located on the highest points of Listrac-Médoc, favoring natural drainage and ideal sunshine. Nathalie and Julien Meyre, are the 6th generation of the family running this property, perpetuate the tradition: predominance of Merlot, collage with egg white, aging of 12 months in barrels, manual harvesting for young parcels and for old vines, while bringing their dynamism to this renowned Cru Bourgeois du Médoc.

2023 is the second vintage of this new white wine made with black grapes: this is Julien’s challenge with plots 353 and 38. Why these plots? Inherited from his grandfather, overlooking the river and enjoying an exceptional climate, they combine all the qualities for the development of a great wine.

This wine is aged in stainless steel tanks and recalls the «Heavy metal» note of its winemaker. Freshness and vivacity in the mouth, resonate like a Hard Rock album. The notes of white peaches dance delicately in the finish like a romantic stroll. An atypical wine in its shape and fruit.

TECHNICAL DATA
Alcohol 13%

APPEARANCE
Very clear, almost transparent, yellow.

NOSE
The freshness is reminiscent of that of a Muscadet, rather than the typical Bordeaux Blanc but also finds a nice tannic structure that gives you a taste of coming back to it.

PALATE
The freshness and liveliness in the mouth resonate like a Hard Rock album and the notes of white peaches dance delicately on the finish like a romantic ballad. A deliciously atypical wine in its shape, texture and fruit.

AGEING
Ageing in stainless steel tanks.

PAIRING
As a general rule of thumb, this Cabernet Sauvignon White will pair well with any white fish and buttery dishes. Generally, seafood is a great match, as long as you don’t use too much vinegar and lemon. White meat, like chicken or turkey, is also a winning match for this wine.

Le Petit Leon is de-facto the second wine of Château Cap Leon Veyrin, even though some grapes are bought in for this wine. The quality is outstanding and the presentation top drawer. Certainly one to look out for if you are on the hunt for quality at a great price.
