APPEARANCE
Intense and bright ruby red.

NOSE
Complex nose of black berries and plum jam, red flowers, humus, cocoa powder, mint and iron.

PALATE
Full-bodied and enveloping, creamy and smooth, fruity with a very long balsamic and fruity persistence.

AGEING
Harvest of the grapes at the full phenolic ripeness, soft pressing and long fermentation with maceration at controlled temperature, then maturation in steel tanks. May have a refining in wood.

PAIRING
First courses with meat sauce, polenta, grilled meat, stews in general, lamb, truffle and medium aged cheeses.

Gnarly Head wines began with a vision and a vine. In 2004, on a mission to make a serious Zinfandel, winemakers journeyed to Lodi in central California in search of the famed old vine Zinfandel vineyards. Grown in the head-trained, spur-pruned method for over a century, these vigorous gnarled vines produced more ripened red fruit than they had ever seen. They took it as a challenge to create the biggest, boldest Zinfandel they had ever made. The result was authentic, structured wines with a hint of something unexpected. Something Gnarly. APPEARANCE
Deep, dark ruby color.

NOSE
Rich aromas of blackberry, mocha, caramel and vanilla, setting the stage for a core of concentrated flavors of plum, dark chocolate, toasted marshmallow and allspice.

PALATE
This smooth, almost silky, wine shows a beautiful black-fruit tone, with a full-bodied frame and a light touch of tannins. It has plenty of black fruit and vanilla notes.

PAIRING
Pair it with charbroiled bacon cheeseburgers, spicy sausages or pork ribs slathered in barbecue sauce.
